Walked to a lower priced hotel 2 blocks further aw. I have 2 bookings made through Hotels.com for a total of 4 nights (1 -5 May 2025) at Catalonia Square.
However, upon arrival I was told that there was a pipe leakage, and I was walked to another hotel under the chain 2 blocks away.
I later found out that the Catalonia Passeig de Gràcia Hotel, where I was walked to had lower rates for all 4 nights of my stay, which comes to a total difference of nearly EUR249. Hotels.com tried to deflect my request of getting a refund of the difference by saying that cancellation is not refundable. I had to repeatedly tell the different agents at Hotels.com multiple times that I am not seeking to cancel my bookings as I have already checked-in and not going to inconvenience myself to move again. Long and short, I am only offered a total of EUR 21 for the difference, which is very far from the actual difference.
If anyone choose to stay at any property in Hotel Catalonia chain near Placa Catalunya, always select the lower price, as you might end up walked from higher priced ones to a lower priced one.

Very good. Lovely staff and really clean and nice rooms! Would definitely stay again for a small city break! Half an hour walk from beach but nice to go through the city to get there. Great location too near lots of shops and restaurants. Pool and gym were great too. .

5 of 5 with (minor) comments.. Clean and nice hotel in superb location. Reception did not or forgot to mention that being member render 10% breakfast discount. Could not say when a child pays full rate for breakfast, I was clear with its a 3y old you also got the passport info. Toilet door hinge in room 406 should be adjusted cannot close fully. Overall 5 of 5.. .

. Close to everything and a very clean and modern facility. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Be aware that larger cars cannot fit in the hotel garage, but they do have an accommodation option. Ours luckily did (a midsize hybrid SUV rental). We didn’t try the breakfast or dining, but the dining room looks lovely. The menu was a little limited if you have children. That being said, there are soooo many options right out the door. The room was lovely, albeit compact in a big city way. We had a family suite and our young daughters LOVED the bunk beds. The step up to the water closet and shower caused many a stubbed toe (more on us than the hotel!) but were very nice. The shower was one of the best I’ve seen in Europe—such great water pressure and a fantastic rain shower. I’d recommend to everyone. . .
