Great Hotel, Great Staff, Great amenities...but the refurbishment is a pure catastrophy for its soul. Location magnificent, Staff outstanding and extremely helpful on all levels from house keeping, concierge, to Reception.
The Spa, the pool, absolutely incredible. The new refurbishment is a total catastrophe. Hotel lost its soul, lost all the characteristics that made it a pure class hotel.
The renovated rooms are unpractical, look like a hospital room with no character, and cheap material has been clearly used for this renovation.
Even the TV doesn't permit you to switch languages (all other hotels in Italy that use SKY have that option)....Seriously, eventhough many times i have pointed this out but it seems they don't care that foreign tourists do not speak Italian. When I come i always ask the non refurbished rooms as they have more class, bigger bath. My Deluxe Room on 4th floor didn't even have a bath.
What a shame.....

Do not stay at this hotel. It’s supposed to be a landmark hotel but is dated in its attitude and approach.. Great location. Impressive decor inside. Major construction and refurbishment was taking place including jack hammers all day. Staff were economical with their when questioned. Told us it only was sanctioned a few days ago. We found out it’s been ongoing for a year. Hotel should have notified us when we booked so we could have made an informed choice to stay. The staff have their hands tied to deceive the guests. Staff tried to help by upgrading room and knocked off the breakfast charge. We left a day early and shortened our vacation..
