Nice family Christmas break in Rome. Simple and nice hotel near the Termini station from where you can go around Rome with any transport (metro, train, bus). Very friendly staff. Simple breakfast and simple, clean rooms. If you are most of the time around Rome, that's all you need. :). /.

Disappointing. The hotel is located very close to the train station (5-10min walk), and not too far from the Colosseum (20min walk). The receptionist who checked us in was nice, but the others were all standoffish. Check in and out was easy though, paid up front and left the keys behind when we left early in the morning.. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst places we stayed at during our Italian trip.
To start at the beginning, there is a single elevator for 5 or 6 floors (which is also used for a couple of other hotels), so it is quite busy and slow – the stairs were nice and wide, so if you're fit then it's not too bad. To access our rooms we need to buzz reception to unlock the door from the floor below, but they never answered the intercom, forcing us to go down the stairs again and talk to them in person.
We were told by reception at check in that our room was one of the newer ones, but the Wi-Fi didn’t work there even though it displayed full connection bars (too many users? bad modem? bad internet provider? I don't know and neither did reception). The wall and floor skirting also had a lot of water damage from the air conditioning, which leaked so much (even after quickly turning it off) that we had to place our towels down to soak the water up, and remove our luggage from the floor so it wouldn’t get wet.
The shower was cramped, and had less water flow than the air conditioning leaking. The water was also freezing cold - when we asked reception about it, he said to leave the water running for a couple minutes to warm up - this actually worked, but it’s definitely not eco-friendly as it takes about 10 minutes or more for the water to warm up.
Lastly, the breakfast had very limited options and none was good (stale cake, croissant, yoghurt/cereal, and turkey ham) – the turkey meat seemed off and made me nauseous just from the smell, so I decided not to risk eating it on our last day in Italy; we were happy to skip the second breakfast because we had to fly so early..
