Bad experience . Not a hotel, but a cheap dump. If you plan to stay there, better buy your own set of bed linen, or else… but let's go in order. We arrived at the hotel late in the evening after a day-long flight. At the reception, we were greeted politely, our reservation was checked, and we were given instructions. Actually, no. We had to wait separately for some clerk to give us the instructions. It wasn’t long, but after an 8-hour flight with a layover, every minute feels like an eternity. The room was small but quite comfortable. My child and I took turns showering. Well, not exactly. Calling it a pleasant experience would be an overstatement. The kid's screams were accompanied by the sound of water and splashes. It turned out that the hot water could suddenly turn cold and vice versa at any moment. You might say, "Oh, it's just a contrast shower, you just don't get it." But I thought a hotel of such reputation and price should at least meet basic standards. Clearly, I was wrong. Anyway, after struggling through our shower – with water that was either scalding hot or freezing cold – we went to bed. The first night passed quietly and peacefully. In the morning, I woke up to a terrible noise. Not understanding what had happened, I rushed to the window. It turned out to be quite simple. The kid woke up early and opened the window for fresh air, and what had scared me was the construction site located right next to the hotel. Breakfast was actually decent. We ate to our heart’s content. Although, there was a minor inconvenience. Or rather, just one. For some reason, they don’t have small spoons readily available. So, you grab a yogurt, and it's like that scene from Winnie the Pooh—there’s yogurt, but nothing to eat it with. The big spoons don’t fit, and we had to wait about 10 minutes for them to bring us a small one. During breakfast, a quality manager approached us and asked if everything was alright. He listened to our spoon story and quickly retreated. After breakfast, we headed out for the day. Now, let's talk about bad luck and how to deal with it. At night, my child got a nosebleed, likely due to the long flight. And this is where we slowly get to the part about buying bed linen. At checkout, the reception presented me with a bill for the bedding. Photo attached. Foolishly, I thought the hotel would simply wash the sheets and use them for the next guests. But no, they considered it "damage to property." At this rate, they might start charging for toilet paper too. Conclusion: Turkey is a land of wonders, and Istanbul is a city of contrasts. But expensive hotels there are best avoided. Instead, choose a small boutique hotel and book a room there. A very good option is in the old city near the Egyptian Bazaar. It offers local charm, intertwined with plenty of cafés, street food restaurants, souvenir shops, and other stores. Just a short walk away, you'll find several massive bazaars, a ferry terminal, a pier for sightseeing boats, a tram, buses, a metro line disappearing into the mountain, and mosques. Perhaps this hotel simply cannot afford a laundry service.. .
