Budget hotel off the beaten track. Hotel Garance offers affordable accommodation in a less tourist-infested part of Paris that's worth getting to know, on the edge of the 13th arrondissement. Les Gobelins metro station on Line 7 is a few hundred metres away. Our room was somewhat smaller than those portrayed on the hotel's website and less “swish” than they looked, with some of the wallpaper lifting off. There were also black stains on the ceiling of the bathroom. But the bed was quite comfortable and the room relatively quiet even though it was on the third floor facing the Avenue des Gobelins. The continental breakfast buffet on the first floor had a good selection of cereals, ham, cheese, fruit, yoghurt, croissants, jam and brown or white bread.. .

Very good. The people working there were very nice, cleaning every day, and the bed was really big😁. The light bulbs gave off almost no light in the evening, so it wasn't enough..

Ok but needs some work. Very dark. The bathroom was dark and needed a good paint. The breakfast was average.. .

good location. We like our triple room which has a little balcany looking over the street. Location of the hotel is great, within 30 minutes' walk to a lot of interested sight including Notre Dame Cathedral. Metro and local buses are very accessible, a few hundred meters away.. Over-priced. Lighting of the room is far too dark. Room 22 (triple room for 3 adults) has only 3 hangers worked in the closet and the rest of the hangers were broken so our clothes were everywhere on floor, on top of suitcase. Not easy to relax in the room with only one chair available for 3 adults, perhaps the hotel should put 2 more chairs, one next to each side of the double bed. The 2 red strcutures by the double bed (stool like) in the room we used for the 3rd person to raise the suitcase on it because he could not bend down to take out stuffs from our carryon luggage. Therefore, before we sleep, everything had to sit on the floor including water bottles, cell phones and watches etc. Not quite the standard we expected when we pay for C$400/night which breakfast does not come with the room booking. Also, if you want to pay for your breakfast, you have to tell the reception one night ahead which is incovenient if we want to leave hotel early in the morning or in case we want to sleep in. Also: Taxi from the airport to hotel charged us Euro 65. For some reason, the hotel called taxi for us which charged us Euro 75 whereas there were big sign at the airport luggage claim area states that standard price to go downtown left bank is Euro 50 and right bank is Euro 58.

Pleasant. Location was in the city, accessible to restaurants and bars. Not far from iconic sites like the Notre Dame Cathedral. Lighting in the room was too dull. Wallpapers are old and worn..

Basic but super location and excellent staff.. Staff were wonderful. Hotel and room were as expected for the price we paid. Location was exceptional. Lift operated perfectly. Overall, it suited our needs.. The decor was a little tired in places..

Dated but well located. The hotel is well located, and the staff is friendly. The ‘family room’ was basically a double with an extra bed squished against one wall. But it wasn’t pricey, so I guess it was ok. And our room was clean (if a bit dated) contrary to some other experiences recorded here.. .
