Nice hotel, but ongoing construction. We actually stayed for 10 nights and my wife's brother and sister-in-law stayed for 4 nights. We had 5 people in our room, including my mother-in-law(for 4 nights). Overall, we loved the Kaftan Hotel. The staff were all very nice and helpful. Murat, the desk manager, was very attentive to our needs and helping resolve complaints. Ruhin and Suat were also very nice and helpful at the front desk. Ruhin spoke Russian, which was great since my in-laws only speak Russian. Our room was comfortable and as pictured on the website. We enjoyed breakfast on the terrace, which had a beautiful view of the Marmara Sea. The eggs were a bit over-salted, but we enjoyed all of the food. The location was GREAT. Many restaurants within a 1-2 minute walk, convenience stores, and only a 5 minute walk to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. I would have given the hotel an even higher rating, but they didn't mention that they were in the middle of renovations. During the hours of 10:30am and 5pm there were some pretty loud noises through out the hotel and cigarette smoke on the floor that my brother-in-law was on. Normally, not a big deal, but we had our 8-month-old with us and were not always able to be out all day with him. I did complain about the noise and smoke to Murat, and although we didn't receive a discount as I had requested, he did waive the fees for all of our airport transfers (3 total).. .

Near the Blue Mosque. The Kaftan Hotel is in a great location, very near the Blue Mosque. The situation is in a quiet end of a road. We heard no cars at all, but we did hear trains as the room we requested overlooked the Bosphurus, which it did, but it also overlooked a railway line. The staff were friendly and the breakfast quite sufficient and fresh. Overall I would recommend it manly because of the central location.. .

To focus on positive side:people were all nice .. The positive thing is that the people were nice , it was just the condition of the property that is overdue for renovation. another disappointment is that there was no internet connection the whole time ( 3 nights) I was there. As a tourist with no phone, that made it very inconvenient for me .. .

It will do. The desk staff was very courteous and friendly. The rooms are tiny and so is the bathroom, but it does have everything you need including a tiny fridge sitting on the floor. The air conditioner worked great. It is not equipped for people who are the least bit handicapped for there are no elevators, just very steep stairs. Even the steps to get into the hotel are three very high steps. The location is wonderful. Lots of fun shops around, located about a 5 minute walk from the public transit, the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sofia and many restaurants. The immediate neighborhood is a bit run down but definitely safe. The breakfast, which was included, was very nice, on the forth floor terrace. It was very Turkish with fresh fruits, olives, cheeses, vegetables, breads, hard boiled eggs (perfection), and wonderful coffee (or tea or juices if you prefer). I'd stay here again.. .

Nice hotel. Considering location, service, and conditions, I definitely recommend it. Breakfast was really good accompanied by the sea view. The hotel is clean and well maintained.. .
