Worst experience in a long time. Absolutely gone downhill. Ive stayed here and Ibiza a number of times and never had a problem but my last visit leaves a lot to be desired. 20 minute checkin even though Im the only one there. 30 minutes waiting to pay for the spa because the attendant is "doing his moustach"
Ended up walking down from the 6th floor to reception to complain that my card hadnt been activated. No hot water in the shower and the next day at Breakfast I wasnt on the list even though ordered the night before. I wrote an email to the manager detaing the above and never even recieved acknoweledgement let alone an apology. .

Really bad experience. I have stayed many times in Axel hotels but in Barcelona sadly I’d never stay here again. When we found out we’d paid double by booking in advance via booking.com and ask politely if maybe we could have breakfast included or an upgrade the mngr Joaquin was nowhere to be found and wouldnt even reply. After 3 polite daily reminders he lied and refused to do anything. Internet is really bad( you eventually have to get ‘a ticket’, coffee and milk is not replenished in rooms etc etc. there are far better hotels in Barcelona at a much better price and if you do stay in Axel don’t book in advance or you will probably pay double!. .

Great location, amenities need improvement.thoigh. Very clean and great housekeeping service. Our biggest problem was slow internet connection. Additionally the pool and hot tub upstairs was under repair so we could not enjoy it.. .

Great hotel , super friendly helpful staff. Fantastic help and friendly service from the staff, particularly JOAQUIM on reception in the mornings.
We were travelling with a wheelchair and everyone went out of their way to help.
Great spa facilities and friendly staff .
Sky bar was great ad we had a nice breakfast the next morning.. The hot food on offer for breakfast needed to be a little warmer ..

Warm hospitality and great location!. My stay at Axel Hotel Barcelona was truly enjoyable. The hotel offers a modern, stylish environment with a lively yet comfortable vibe. What really made a difference was the exceptional service at the front desk – especially from Joaquin, who was incredibly helpful, attentive, and welcoming throughout my stay. He went out of his way to make sure everything went smoothly. I’d definitely choose this hotel again – and I hope to be greeted by Joaquin next time too!. .

Good enough - but could be excellent with a bit more effort. Fantastic location in a lovely old building that's modernized inside. Good facilities and friendly staff. Stayed in a premium room, which was very nice, good size and two separate balconies which were very pretty - although the mattress was rock hard and uncomfortable. I asked for a mattress topper, but none was provided so I assume they don't have them. Toilet seat was broken, but fixed promptly when I reported it. Definitely avoid the breakfast. It was shockingly bad. A lot of food laid out in a buffet, but it didn't seem like any of the food was freshly cooked. I'm sorry I paid extra for it. Much better to eat in the many restaurants nearby. Would stay again at the right price.. .
